What is a Building Permit?

A Building Permit is a formal approval from your local municipality which allows you to proceed with demolition, construction, addition or renovation to your property. As part of the permit process you will need to provide construction drawings to make sure they are in accordance with the Ontario Building Code (OBC), local zoning by-laws and other applicable laws. Check with your local building department to see if you require a permit.
